Honda Center
Nestled in the heart of Orange County, Honda Center stands as one of the premier entertainment and sports venues in the country. Opened in 1993, it is owned by the City of Anaheim and managed by Anaheim Arena Management, LLC. Home to the Anaheim Ducks and annual John R. Wooden Classic, the arena has hosted the 2003 World Gymnastics Championships and 2005 World Badminton Championships.
Experience the Honda Center
The Honda Center is an indoor arena and home of the Anaheim Ducks, a National Hockey League team. The arena is located on Katella Avenue in Anaheim, California across from Angel Stadium home of the Los Angeles Angels, a Major League Baseball team. On the other side of Orange Freeway, about three miles away is the Flightdeck Air Combat Center Flight Simulation where people can book a session and experience a flight simulation. Then, Disneyland is only about three miles away. The Honda Center was first called the Anaheim Arena, but soon the venue received the name the Pond of Anaheim where the Ducks play.
Opening in 1993 with a Barry Manilow concert, the arena has been host to a wide variety of important events. Two of the most notable events were the Stanley Cup Finals of 2003 and 2007. A few professional wrestling events were held in the arena, and the badminton IBF World Championships of 2005. Besides sporting events, the Honda Center hosts many major film and TV recording sessions, entertainment events such as concerts. During the 1990s, many different sport events happened at the Pond of Anaheim. Tina Turner performed two important concerts at the arena. The first was in 2000, and then she came back in 2008 for her "Tina!: 50th Anniversary Tour."
The venue is an entertainment and sports arena. By 2009, over 25 million people had entered the arena. The facility is amazing. More than 200,000 square feet surrounding the concourses and walls are made of marble, and 10 miles of piping freeze the concrete for hockey games. A mixture of water and Ethylene Glycol circulates through the pipes while a thin layer of water is spread across the concrete floor, which freezes over a 30-hour process. In eight hours, the experienced arena crew can turn the rink into an entertainment venue with appropriate stage and multi-media equipment in place. The Honda Center is a fantastic and functional auditorium for both sports and popular entertainment performances.
